"With the new S-Class we aimed to get away from the 'brawny' exterior of
the previous model. In our mind's eye we had an image of an elegant
athlete with a lean, honed body. This caused us to give the sedan a
coupe flavor, making it sporty (but not too sporty), and at the same
dignified and refined. The front end continues the traditional Mercedes
shape. The bumpers are integrated in the design of the body and make the
vehicle appear as if it were cast in a single piece."
