Fiber CD-Changer install (MY2001+)
The 2001+ M-Class has fiber prewiring but is not preconfigured for a CD-changer if one orders it without the sound system incl the CD-changer. A splice under the center console must be reconfigured, then it's plug and play. Keeping the fiber sequence is not necessary since the D2B master recognizes the components and will work with any config. But diagnostics will not recognize the components correctly, if the sequence is not maintained, e.g. reporting an error at #2, TeleAid, when in fact it's the phone. Diagnostics will also report that items are out of sequence. One can check and identify an optic wire by holding a flash light on one end and check for the light on the other end. If it does not light up, it's not the same wire.
